The right back was subbed at half-time of the 4-1 defeat to Stevenage, aggravating his thigh problem as he tried to prevent Greg Luer squaring for Dean Parrett to score the visitors’ second at the end of the first period.

Kieran O’Hara was also due to return to training on Thursday as he battles his own thigh injury.

Boss Jim Bentley said: “He had been carrying an injury and we were going to assess him at half-time but what happened when he was taken on made it worse and he’s probably going to be out for the rest of the season now.

“Kieran O’Hara will train today and we’ve got one or two other niggles here and there.

“We’re not too bad though and we’ve got a decent squad to pick from.”

Shaun Miller, Andy Parrish and Andy Fleming are all likely to return to the squad after missing the Stevenage game.

Miller was absent due to his partner going into labour, Parrish’s wife was unwell meaning he spent time with his family and Fleming was rested due to an ankle knock.
