Morecambe 3-0 Bury

PHIL Jevons took his tally to the season to 11 with two goals as Morecambe made it five wins in a row.

Jevons, who had a spell on loan at Bury last season, was the star of the show as Alan Knill's side lost for the first time in 12 games.

Morecambe went ahead on the hour from the penalty spot. Will Haining's header towards goal struck Bury defender Tom Newey on the arm and Phil Jevons, who had a spell on loan with the Shakers at the end of last season, sent Wayne Brown the wrong way for his 10th league goal of the season.

Seven minutes later it was 2-0 for the Shrimps as they had a huge slice of luck. Jevons was again involved with a cross from the right hand side that was heading for Paul Mullin until Bury defender Ben Futcher intervened to head past his own keeper who was left flat footed.

Jevons sealed his brace 10 minutes from time as he was unmarked at the far post to poke home Michael Twiss's pinpoint left wing cross.

Bury came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half with a Danny Mardiello free kick on 23 minutes hitting the post with Barry Roche beaten.

At the other end Morecambe had the better of the early stages and came close on two occasions. Phil Jevons headed a Garry Hunter cross wide at the near post and Craig Stanley went close with a similar effort from a Michael Twiss left wing cross.

In the first minute of the game Wayne Brown was forced to tip over a looping Stanley cross.
