Vale of Lune’s junior squash players played their first ever team match against rugby club rivals Preston Grasshoppers.

Youngsters nurtured by one of the club’s England level 2 coaches Rob Kitchen got the chance to exercise their skills in a series of low-key games against boys and girls of a similar age.

Vale generally had the upper hand but the fixture was such a success that a return leg is to be played at Preston in the near future.

Afterwards, the teams enjoyed the hospitality of the Vale, thanks to club house manager Liam Law.

Rob said: “The day went really well and everyone had a great time.

“All the parents and coaches were very proud of what the youngsters achieved.”
