Eighteen-year-old Liam Murphy was racing at Cadwell Park Race Circuit in Lincolnshire recently in the BRSCC Mazda MX5 Supercup Championship.
In the fifth round of the season Liam qualified in fifth position from a full grid of 28 cars.
In race one Liam made a good start, passing one car around the first corner. The train of Mazdas then went along Park straight on the narrow Lincolnshire circuit, Liam sat in fourth place for a few laps applying the pressure to the car in front until eventually he got through and finished in a very creditable third place and another podium finish .
In race two on a wet and damp track Liam got a reasonable start and was in third place for the first half of the race before again applying enough pressure to the cars in front and eventually found a way past to the front of the race.
He managed his second podium finish of the day, eventually finishing in first place and the top step of the podium for his first win of the season.
In Race three Liam got a reasonable start but was forced onto the outside round the first corner and had to slot into fourth place.
He eventually got passed two cars in front and finished in second place.
Liam is now third in the championship standings.
