University A have dominated the first half of the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Premier Division season at the expense of the long-time champions Trimpell Raptors.
The Raptors are six points adrift while the University have a valuable match in hand, worth 30 points.
The past title holders are also in danger of being caught by Trimpell Bulldogs who if they win their match in hand could move up to second place.
At the wrong end of the table Barbarians are 40 pints adrift of St Lukes C and need an unprecedented change of fortune to avoid relegation.
Morecambe A are in magnificent form and are favourites for promotion.
Matthew Cooke, Nathan Beamer and Aiden Branch have taken the Championship Division by storm.
Close rivals Morecambe B with Abinhav Sinha, Adam Ordenez and Hudson Nuttall in their team, are favourites to finish in the second promotion spot with two matches in hand on third place Garstang Cowboys.
The Morecambe C team are also holding their own in a highly competitive Championship Division with youngsters Matthew Westworth, Naomi Collins and Elliott Bywater gaining valuable match experience every week.
