In the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Premier Division, Trimpell Dragons took part in a mid-table battle with St Luke’s A.

Dan Welbourne surprised the visitors when he defeated Paul Hines 3-1 in the opening set of the match.

Jerad Holmes, the Dragons’ latest signing, made a successful debut with a win against Martin Wakelin.

Chris Knowles won man of the match with a 100 per cent record and assisting Wakelin to win the doubles against Welbourne and Holmes. In the Championship, Barbarians are running away with the division.

Their latest victims, St Luke’s C, were no match for the experience of the trio, Ken Riley, Mike White and Clare Towers.

The home team started by winning the first four sets before David Hewitt hit back to claim a consolation point for the Saints who have now lost ground in their quest for promotion.

Abhinav Sinha won man of the match with an outstanding display of attacking table tennis for Morecambe in their match with St Lukes D.

Abhinav won his three singles and partnered Adam Ordenez to win the doubles 3-2 against Nathan Beamer and David Hughes.
