Around 150 runners full of Christmas spirit took part in Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club’s annual Festive Fun Run.
The 4k event on Thursday, December 27, took place in stormy weather conditions but plenty of athletes took on the route that started and finished at the club’s clubhouse at Salt Ayre Sports Centre.
Kendal AC’s Danny Parkinson was the winner for the second year in a row, leading from start to finish to cross the line in 12 minutes 45 seconds.
He was a clear minute ahead of his nearest rivals with second and third being credited with the same time of 13.45 - Blackpool Wyre and Fylde’s Andrew Woodward just beating Nathan Townsend of Horwich RMI to the line.
In the ladies race, Lancaster and Morecambe youngster Mary Hodgson was the clear winner in 15.21 finishing 12th overall.
In second was Susan Gledhill from Stainland Lions in 17.38. Emma Hewitt took third running for Garstang Running Club in 18.05.
The host club had 45 runners competing with John Didsbury first male back in sixth position in 14.19, followed by Callum Mason in eighth position in 14.42 and Paul Tynan in 15th in 15.50.
Following Mary back for the women was Georgia Hannam in 18.37, Shannon Perry in 18.39 and Rachel Didsbury in 20.11.
