A Galgate racer finished his season in style at Donington Park.

Liam Murphy won his first races in the BRSCC Mazda MX5 Supercup Championship to finish fourth in the standings showing he is one to watch for the 2015 season.

The 18-year-old also secured his first pole position in qualifying for the season’s eighth and final round at the weekend.

In race one on Saturday afternoon Murphy made a great start and led four-time Mazda MX5 Mk1 Champion Tom Roche for the opening lap.

The pair traded places over the next five laps until on the sixth time around the famous Leicestershire circuit the C&M Motors supported racer hit the front, building a gap of more than two seconds on the way to a maiden victory. Murphy was quick off the line again in Sunday afternoon’s second race and led Roche by more than a second at the end of the opening lap.

He pushed hard and sealed back-to-back wins by more than 10 seconds to take another dominant victory.

Murphy will take part in the same championship in 2015 with an eye on even greater honours.
