MORECAMBE bounced back from the previous weekend’s double header defeat with a convincing win against near neighbours Preston.
They also became part of Preston history too as club captain Lukman Vahaluwala broke the Preston amateur bowling record previously held since 1971.
When Vahaluwala caught and bowled Danny Welbourne for the final wicket in his figures of 4 for 38, he moved to 66 wickets this season.
Unfortunately for Vahaluwala he could not stop Preston falling to a crushing 118 run defeat at the hands of a Morecambe side that completely dominated the game.
Fielding another changed side, Woodhead won the toss and chose to bat first on a wicket with a reputation for producing results.
Woodhead himself was the first wicket to fall but Morecambe recovered well to post 180-8 with a fine fifty from Josh Dixon.
The new recruit from Heysham stuck in well and showed real maturity on what wasn’t a great pitch as he gained his second fifty in the league this season.
