Lancaster and Morecambe made it three wins out of three this season with a hard-fought victory away at Alderley Edge’s 2nd team.
The visitors pressed high up the pitch from the off before taking the lead.
Some slick forward play from Rob Cook led to a short corner which was converted by newcomer Tom Morgan with a stunning drag flick.
It was soon two when Craig Allison intercepted the ball in midfield before releasing Cook who calmly finished past the Alderley ‘keeper.
Alderley struck back shortly after through a short corner but it wasn’t too long before LMHC restored their two-goal advantage.
More fluent hockey down the left by Steve Goodwin and Phil McMorris resulted in a deflected finish from the in-form Matt Hartnett.
The half finished with pressure from Alderley which resulted in another goal from a short corner to make it 3-2 at the break.
The second half started with Alderley pressuring the LMHC defence which eventually succumbed to some fine work and a low finish past Hutchinson levelled the game up.
With the game poised at 3-3 LMHC could have buckled but it was the wake up call they needed as they grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck scoring two further goals in a fine second-half display.
Alex Davidson and Phil McMorris scored the goals after some fine midfield work from Mike Sambell, Nick Davey and Matt Lee.
Any late pressure from Alderley was easily dealt with by the rear guard of Matt Wright, Andy Crabtree and man of the match Stephen Foy ensuring a third straight win.
LMHC look to continue their good form next week when they welcome Winnington Park 1s to the University of Cumbria, push back at 2pm.
