Lancaster and Morecambe Hockey Club's men's first team for the 2014-2015 season.

Lancaster and Morecambe Mens 1st team were 3-0 winners over Urmston at the University of Cumbria on Saturday.

The hosts, looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat to North Hockey Men’s League Division 2 West leaders Didsbury last time out, went ahead through Phil McMorris.

The Irishman combined well with strike partner Alex Davidson before slapping the ball home.

It was 2-0 on the quarter hour as Michael Sambell and Matt Hartnett combined well to win a short corner which Joey Davidson converted with a sublime drag flick.

Urmston grew into the game but found Andy Crabtree, Simon Mounsey and Matt Wright in fine form in the LMHC defence as the hosts went into the break 2-0 to the good.

Lancaster and Morecambe wanted the next goal to cement their advantage and had it soon after the interval.

From a short corner Rob Cook reacted quickest to a rebounded effort to flick the ball over the despairing ‘keeper.

The hosts didn’t look like conceding all afternoon and created the better chances with Cook and Nick Davey coming close to extending the lead.

Second in the table Lancaster and Morecambe next visit Winnington Park Mens 1st. Push back 2pm.
