The Clarkson Hirst Solicitors LMHC Mens 1st team travelled to Bebington at the weekend to take on their 1st team.
The game started brightly on what was a sluggish pitch underfoot due to the recent wet weather and both teams enjoyed early chances.
It was, however, to the disappointment of LMHC, Bebington who took an early lead through a short corner.
This came rather fortuitously as the initial strike from the short corner seemed to be mishit which somehow found its way to an unmarked Bebington shirt at the far post.
It wasn’t long before LMHC began to get a foot hold in the game and they started to create clear cut chances after some competent work from Mike Sambell and Rob Cook, the latter won a vital short corner for the visitors on the 15 minute mark.
Tom Morgan dispatched this with an exquisite drag flick leaving the Bebington stopper motionless in his goal.
Ten minutes passed with neither side making any advances forward and the game was locked in a midfiled battle.
Bebington then broke free, working the ball smartly around Hutchinson in the LMHC goal to make it 2-1 to the Wirral based team with 25 minutes gone.
LMHC responded well to the set back and the midfield of Nick Davey, Matt Hartnett and Craig Allison worked tirelessly to ensure LMHC came back strong into the game.
The hard work paid off when Morgan drove down the right only to pick a pin point pass to Sambell who was waiting unmarked at the top of the ‘D’.
He finished with aplomb after a neat first time strike left the keeper with no chance.
LMHC finished the half on top with Steve Goodwin-Allen and Sambell putting further efforts narrowly wide.
In the second half LMHC enjoyed much more of the ball and it wasn’t too long when the impressive Cook worked his way past two Bebington defenders only to unselfishly square the ball to goal machine Phil McMorris, who slapped in his tenth goal of the season to make it 3-2 to LMHC.
This was a lead LMHC were not to relinquish as a more composed second half didn’t allow the home side a sniff at goal.
