The Heysham Atoms will look for a measure of revenge this weekend in the North West Men’s League Division One play-off final.

The Trimpell Club, already promoted to the Premier Division in second place, take on the side that pipped them to the league title, Bold Miners of St Helens at the home of Super League Club Widnes Vikings on Saturday.

The Atoms secured their place in the final after Barrow’s Hindpool Tigers were unable to field a team last Saturday.

It gives the Heysham side the opportunity to finish an historic season on a real high having lost both regular season games to Bold who went on to win the title by just one point.

Secretary Dave Crow said: “We really want to get one over on them.

“We lost the title decider a few weeks ago but should have Al Crookall and Mark Walker back.

“It’ll be a great end to the season.”

The Atoms will go into the game a little rusty having seen their season peter out with a series of walkover wins as sides failed to make the trip to the Trimpell.

The day at the Select Security Stadium will host the North West Men’s League finals for all five divisions.

There will be a coach leaving the Trimpell Club at noon prompt on Saturday and anyone wanting to book a seat and support the club should contact Dave on 079663 22864 as soon as possible.
