Young school cricketers have been battling out in district finals in recent weeks.

Years 8 and 9 have taken part in festivals at Westgate and Torrisholme Cricket Clubs with the Year 7 event at Lancaster Royal Grammar School and the year 10s taking the field at Lancaster’s Lune Road.

The LRGS side were crowned year 7 champions on home turf, beating Ripley St Thomas in the final.

It was the same story in the year above with the Grammar School once again seeing off Ripley in the final, this time on Westgate and Torrisholme’s pitches. Ripley were however crowned champions of the year 9 and year 10 events.

The Lancaster school saw off Heysham High School in the year 9 decider with LRGS down in third place after victory over Carnforth High School in the third place play-off.

Ripley then got a measure of revenge over LRGS for defeat in the year 7 and 8 finals by taking the year 10 crown at Lune Road to make it a two victories each for the city schools.
