Lancaster and Morecambe will look to kickstart their seasons this weekend.

It was a bank holiday weekend to forget at both Woodhill Lane and Lune Road with both continuing their stuttering starts to the new campaign.

Lancaster next head to Fleetwood on Saturday before their Lancashire Cup bow at Little Lever on Sunday.

It comes on the back of a weekend where Ben Simm’s side suffered a heavy defeat at Netherfield before the controversy of their bank holiday Monday clash with Chorley being called off due to the Lune Road pitch being deemed ‘unfit’ for play.

Stand-in skipper Jamie Heywood said: “We are tight knit group of lads and a proven side, so it is a case of getting past this bad patch and trying to get everything back on the right track for this year.

“We have a Lancashire Cup fixture on Sunday so we need to get our focus back on the field and going far in that.”

Morecambe on the other hand travel to Netherfield on Saturday having been skittled out by both Darwen and Kendal over the bank holiday weekend.
