Club runners join record field in marathon effort

A number of Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners took part in the 34th London Marathon on Sunday as part of a record field of more than 35,000 finishers.

The runners had a variety of reasons for running the famous 26.2 mile event, some were raising money for a charity while others were aiming to complete their first marathon.

The first finisher for the club Peter Twigg ran a fantastic effort of 3h.10.33, placing him in the top 2,500 runners.

In next was Sean Davis with a good run of 3h.20.16, followed by Gareth Richardson, who ran a superbly paced run to finish in 3h.21.13.

Joanne Taylor completed the course in 3h.23.32 while Louise Goddard was rewarded with an excellent time of 3h.25.25, which placed her 63rd in the veteran 45 category.

Close behind was Katherine Cousins who judged the race to perfection, running faster in the second half to finish in 3h.27.50.

Other finishers were Liz Hickingbotham 3h.59.13, Helena Lewis 4h.16.14, Greg Lambert 4h.25.51, Andrew and Julie Shanley 4h.47.05 and Julia Possener 
5h.29.56.
