Dave Chisnall produced two solid performances at the latest PDC ProTour weekend at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The Morecambe ace reached the last 16 of the 11th Players Championship event on Saturday before being knocked out in the quarter-finals in number 12 the following day.

In the opening £50,000 event in Coventry, sixth seed Chisnall saw off Jeff Batham, Pete Dyos and Paul Nicholson in the early stages before falling 6-5 to Joe Cullen in round four.

Gary Anderson picked up his fifth PDC ProTour win of 2014 as he overcame fellow Scotsman Robert Thornton 6-2 in the final.

On Sunday, Chisnall showed his form was improving as he picked up wins over Marc Dewsbury, Wayne Pepper, David Dodds and Kyle Anderson before falling 6-5 to losing finalist James Wade in the last eight.

Wade was later defeated 6-3 by Simon Whitlock as the Australian picked up the £10,000 winners’ cheque.
