Dave Chisnall reached the second and third rounds of the latest Players Championship double header in Wigan at the weekend.
The Morecambe ace was knocked out 6-5 by Jyhan Artut in Saturday’s second round, making it one stage further the following day before being eliminated by Paul Amos 6-3.
Chisnall received a bye in Saturday’s first round at the Robin Park Tennis Centre before the defeat to Artut.
On Sunday, he got revenge on the German in the opening round, winning 6-2 before seeing off Alan Tabern 6-4 in round two.
Amos proved too strong in the next stage however.
Jamie Caven secured a memorable double, winning both of the weekend’s events.
He defeated Paul Nicholson 6-4 on Saturday before seeing off former Lakeside champion Jelle Klaasen by the same score the following day.
The next two Players Championship events will take place at the K2 Centre in Crawley on the weekend of June 22 to 23.
Both events have £50,000 on offer following this year’s increase from £35,000 per event.
