Dave Chisnall felt the full force of darts great Phil “The Power” Taylor in the latest UK Open qualifier in Wigan on Sunday.
The Morecambe man was knocked out 6-3 by the 16-time world champion in the second round at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.
Chisnall had reached the last 16 of the first event of the weekend double-header on Saturday.
As he did on Sunday, he overcame Marc Dewsbury in the opening round before defeating Mark Hylton 6-2 in the second round.
Next up the world number 10 defeated Mark Lawrence 6-1 before seeing off Campbell Jackson 6-2 in the fourth round.
But Englishman Mark Cox proved too strong in the next stage coming out a 6-5 winner .
Chisnall set up his clash against Taylor with a 6-1 win over Dewsbury.
But he found the sport’s greatest ever player too hot to handle.
The final two Speedy Services UK Open Qualifiers will be held at the Robin Park Tennis Centre on April 27 and 28 with the top 96 players, plus ties, from the Order of Merit qualifying for June’s televised finals in Bolton.
