MORECAMBE-BASED darts ace Dave Chisnall will play former finalist Mark Dudbridge in the first round of the 2012 PDC World Darts Championship this Sunday (December 18) on Sky Sports.

Chisnall, runner-up in the 2010 BDO World Final on the BBC, will be competing in his first PDC World Championship.

“Chizzy” plays in the local league and was the 2010 Morecambe Darts Open champion.

The St Helens-born thrower defected to the PDC from their rivals the BDO earlier this year.

Chisnall has been in top form going into the £1million prestige tournament, which runs from December 15 to January 2 at The Alexandra Palace, London.

Last week he reached the quarter-finals of the Players’ Championship on ITV4, losing 9-8 to former BDO Champion and PDC semi-finalist Mark Webster.

Chisnall is ranked 38 in the world and has earned nearly £60,000 prize money from tournaments this year.

You can follow Dave’s progress on Sky Sports this Sunday night.
