Bowerham Lawn Tennis Club launches its new junior tennis club this Sunday, June 23.
Every Sunday the club will welcome players of all levels aged five to 16. The session runs from 12.45pm to 1.45pm.
Club secretary Mark Braithwaite said: “It’s a great way to encourage younger players to develop their tennis.
“There’ll be plenty of emphasis on enjoyment and having fun.
“With Wimbledon just around the corner this is an opportunity to welcome new players to the club.”
Smaller rackets and softer tennis balls will be in use for the youngest players and will be provided.
For players over 16 Bowerham hold a regular club night programme throughout the summer on Mondays and Fridays from 6pm.
A strong Bowerham team beat Lancaster under 14s on Saturday.
Bowerham pair Raj Roy and Adam Hill beat Tom Bowe and Dan Main 6-3 in the opener.
In the other doubles match, Lancaster captain James Main paired up with Alex Parrott and after a good start they fell behind against Bowerham’s other pair, Tom Nixon and Sam Warburton, and suffered a 6-2 loss.
In the singles matches, Raj Roy had a comfortable 6-1 victory against Tom Bowe.
Dan Main battled well to win 7-5 in a close match against Bowerham’s Sam Warburton.
But in the other singles matches, Tom Nixon beat James Main 6-1 and debutant Adam Hill beat Alex Parrott 6-2.
