IN SPORT sometimes the winning margins can be very tight and the final outcome can hinge on decisions made or chances scorned in the heat of battle.
Such was the case for the Vale of Lune in their North One West fixture against Liverpool St Helens.
Two penalties were missed, one kick at goal was turned down in favour of a scrum, and in such a relatively close game the pendulum might have swung in the visitors’ favour.
But for all their efforts the Vale could only muster a single try against a well organised Liverpool St Helens side that were resolute and single-minded in carving out a victory and in doing so preserving their unbeaten home record, plus having the satisfaction of completing the double over the Vale.
