Lancaster youngsters help North West team to silver medal

Five City of Lancaster Triathlon athletes have represented the 16-strong North West team.

Larissa Hannam, Hannah Edwards, Sasha Oldham, Rhys Ashton and Shea Hannam were part of the regional squad that won silver at the British Triathlon Under 20s festival at Mallory Park, Leicestershire at the weekend.

Rhys, 11, supported his two team mates from Carlisle Triathlon and put in a super performance on the bike to finish 10th and pick up some valuable points.

Next to go was 12-year-old Sasha who finished 17th. Like Rhys she protect the team’s strongest swimmer before coming into her own on the bike.

Shea helped his team mate Marcus Dey take to first as he finished 13th while 14-year-old Hannah put in strong all-round performance to finish 19th.

Larissa acted as a reserve.

The athletes now head for the last race of the season at Salt Ayre this Saturday, September 19, as COLT look to defend their title as North West Club Champions.
