A Heysham High School pupil has been crowned British Biathlon Champion.
Georgia Hannam came out on top in the swimming and running event in Solihull at the weekend with younger brother Shea third in his age group.
The pair joined athletes from across the country having both won their respective age groups at the regional qualifiers in October.
Georgia came out her 200m swim in third place and only 26 points behind first place she knew she could claw it back on the 1,600m run.
The 15-year-old took the lead from the start and never looked back as she took the British title.
Earlier in the day, her 12-year-old brother Shea had started his event well with a personal best of 1.07.86 in the 100m swim.
In search of a podium finish the Heysham High School pupil set off with the lead runners on the 1,600m run and despite a stumble after being tripped by one of the other competitors, did enough to finish third.
Georgia also took part in a trial for the English Talent Programme in Solihul and is hoping to be part of the modern pentathlon squad where she will join up with Shea who was selected for the ETP back in September.
The pair are coached by Colin Gemson at Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club and Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo Club’s Andi Daykin and Karl Bradley.
