MORECAMBE-BASED heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury survived an almighty scare to retain his Commonwealth Title in Manchester on Saturday night.

Fury stopped Canadian Champion Neven Pajkic after three wildly exciting rounds at Event City near the Trafford Centre.

The British Champion was floored heavily by a hard right hand to the jaw in Round 2.

But Fury, 23, got up and landed heavy punches of his own in Round 3, twice sending the previously unbeaten Pajkic to the canvas before the referee called a halt.

The Morecambe man extended his unbeaten record to 17 wins. The fight was televised live on Channel 5.
