Morecambe travel to Newport County on Saturday for the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
Justin Edinburgh. Former Tottenham defender guided County back to the Football League after a 25 year absence in May with 2-0 victory over Welsh rivals Wrexham in the Conference play-off final. Took over in October 2011 with his side in the relegation zone, guiding them to 19th in the Conference and the FA Trophy final, where they lost 2-0 to York. Masterminded a third place finish last season, his first full campaign in charge, before the victory at Wembley which secured a place in League 2.
Chris Zebroski. Well travelled 26-year-old arrived at County in the summer and already has four League 2 goals to his name, making him the league’s joint top scorer. Has been with Wycombe, Bristol Rovers, Torquay and Cheltenham. The striker has vowed his problems are behind him after he had his contract terminated by the Robins after failing to show for four games, including calling the club on New Year’s Day to say he wasn’t fit to play. Finished last season with Conference South side Eastleigh.
County are ninth in League Two a point behind the Shrimps in seventh. They are unbeaten at home having won their opening two games against Accrington Stanley and Bristol Rovers before seeing a Sam Clucas goal hand Mansfield a point in a 1-1 draw on Saturday, a game that saw both sides finish with 10 men. Edinburgh’s side have drawn their last three league games 1-1.
Like the Shrimps, caused an upset in the opening round of the Capital One Cup, winning 3-1 at Brighton in the first round before losing against Premier League opposition at the next stage, being knocked out 3-0 by West Brom.
