Morecambe welcome fellow play-off chasers Burton Albion to the Globe Arena on Saturday.
The 39-year-old former Derby County full back is in his second season in charge with Albion having taken over in May 2012. Guided the Brewers to fourth place in his first season in charge, missing out on the automatic promotion places by just two points. A play-off semi-final defeat to Bradford followed and having been arguably League 2’s surprise package last season, Rowett is hoping for more of the same this season.
The 23-year-old former Torquay striker has nine goals to his name in all competitions this season and is seen as the Brewers’ main goal threat. The former Northern Ireland Under 21 international is however just one part of a front line that is full of goals.
Have only won one of their last five in League 2, a 2-1 home win over Cheltenham back on January 11 and currently occupy the final play-off place in seventh. Are on a run of three games without a win having drawn 0-0 at Bury, lost 4-2 at home to Fleetwood and been held 1-1 by Exeter at the Pirelli Stadium last time out.
The Shrimps and Burton are more than familiar with one another having met a total of 20 times in League 2, the Conference and FA Trophy dating back more than 10 years. In total, Morecambe have had the better of things with 11 wins to Burton’s seven. The clashes usually produce plenty of goals with the Shrimps’ 1-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium back in November one of the few exceptions.
