On-loan Morecambe striker Richard Brodie has returned to Crawley.

The front man made his final appearance for The Shrimps in Saturday’s goalless draw with Bradford as his six-month deal came to an end.

Boss Jim Bentley thanked him for his contribution and revealed his one January transfer move could be to finally secure the signature of midfielder Ryan Williams, after the club were denied permission to sign him earlier in the season.

“Brodes will go back,” said Bentley.

“I’d like to thank him for what he’s done. He’s really worked hard and I think he’s improved. He’s a great lad.

“It’s a difficult situation, he likes it up north and is working hard to try and impress to get a contract and perhaps he’s tried too hard at times.

“The only activity we might be doing is we’re hoping to get Ryan Williams tied up.

“He just wants the opportunity. He was with us for three months and didn’t get a bean off the club and just wants to come back and have that platform to try and express himself.

“It’s a gamble but he might come in and impress and become one of our regulars in time.”
