IN the Black Dragon Senior Challenge Cup semi-final another encounter between two lowly Premier Division sides, Swarthmoor Social Club and Marsh United, was as close as their first semi-final with the same result, a win for Marsh United.
The game was played at a fast pace with both sides going close before Marsh ran out 4-2 winners.
The Marsh goalscorers were Marc Goulding, Lee Sparks (2) and an own goal.
Swarthmoor, who were always chasing the game, rallied and scored twice through Ben Dryden and Michael Thomsett, before the own goal sealed the win.
In the final on Thursday, May 5, Marsh will play the winners of this weekend’s other semi-final between College AFC and Storeys.
In the Premier Division second placed Slyne-with-Hest just got the better of a Bentham side that are edging their way into the danger area.
Andy Charnley put Slyne into the lead when he headed in from a corner.
Bentham fought back and equalised through Gary Louth. Bentham then threw everything at Slyne and deservedly went in front thanks to a great goal by Tim Whieldon.
The second half saw Bentham continue to be the better side but their finishing was awful.
Slyne equalised when Charnley scored his second. As Slyne came more into the game they created more chances than Bentham and went in front for the second time when Sam Sandham scored.
