Morecambe have re-signed left back Laurence Wilson.

The defender, 27, who left the Shrimps to join Rotherham two seasons ago, has signed a one year contract after being released by Accrington Stanley at the end of last season.

Boss Jim Bentley said he was delighted to see his former team mate return after impressing in pre season.

He said: “Lawrence was always an excellent player for us and one of the best left backs in League 2.

“He left us to join Rotherham and although things didn’t quite go to plan for him there, I had no hesitation in bringing him back to the club after his spell at Accrington.

“He is a quality player who is hungry to be successful here. He’s fitted back into the club superbly and impressed with his attitude and application during pre season.”

Wilson made more than 120 appearances for the Shrimps between 2009 and 2012 before joining the Millers.
