Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says he won’t be rushed into signing a new left back.
The Shrimps’ manager is on the hunt to replace the departed Robbie Threlfall and has spoken to a number of potential players but says he will wait until the time is right to seal a deal.
He said: “The fact we signed a large number of targets so early in the summer has been brilliant as it means we don’t have to rush into any decisions about any more players.
“I have spoken to a couple of players who could fit the bill but we have the luxury of being able to really look at the market.
“Some clubs haven’t announced their retained lists yet and we will look at those because it is a position we want to get right.
“It is an important position for us and I want to get the right player in at the right price and we will look at every option possible.”
Bentley is however closer to securing deals on a couple of younger squad members with talks ongoing with defender Chris Doyle.
He said: “We do want to keep Chris and we would like to bring in another youngster.
“The junior side of the club has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and we are beginning to see the benefits of that now.
“Our aim has always been to get to a stage where we can develop our own talent and through some hard work by the club and the staff we are really making great strides in that department.”
*The Shrimps have announced their first two pre season friendlies with games against Dundee on Saturday, July 19 and Oldham Athletic on Tuesday, July 22.
