Morecambe have been drawn at home to Carlisle United in round two of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The tie will be played on Tuesday, October 8, in a 7.45pm kick-off after the Shrimps received a first round bye.
The League 1 side, who have won the competition twice, most recently in 2011, will be under new management after Greg Abbott left Brunton Park on Monday.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “In truth it is one of the best draws we could have had.
“The fact we are at home is a bonus and games against Carlisle always provide a good atmosphere.
“Carlisle fans travel in good numbers and we have had some great games against them in the past and this should be no different.
“They have won this competition a few times so will be hoping to do well again this year.
“But this is a competition that gives the chance of a Wembley final and it would be good to take advantage of the fact we were given a bye in the first round this year.”
