MORECAMBE boss Jim Bentley has several injury concerns ahead of this Saturday’s game against Bristol Rovers.

The Shrimps manager will be assessing the fitness of numerous first-team players before the game at the Globe Arena as his side look to continue an excellent start to the season that sees them two points clear at the top of League 2.

Gary McDonald, who picked up a knee injury against Macclesfield last week; Nick Fenton, who was withdrawn against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday; Phil Jevons, who has been struggling with a calf problem; and skipper Will Haining are all touch and go for the game against the Pirates.

Speaking on Tuesday, Bentley said: “Gary McDonald’s injury isn’t as serious as we thought. He’s all right but whether he’ll be fit for Saturday or not I don’t know.

“Nick Fenton got kneed in a bum cheek and it left him with pain in his hamstring. Phil Jevons and Will Haining are also doubtful but it’s a squad game.

“We’ll assess everything and see how it goes this week but we’re struggling a bit.

“Everyone is in high spirits though and I’m sure anyone who comes into the side will work hard to keep our unbeaten record.”
