MORECAMBE will be searching for their first ever Football League win over Accrington Stanley on Boxing Day to get their season back on track after three defeats in four games.
The Shrimps have lost nine and won just one of their last 12 outings against Stanley in the league and the Conference with their only victory coming in 2005, a 3-2 win at Christie Park, a statistic that boss Jim Bentley wants to end as soon as possible.
After a poor start to the season, Stanley could leapfrog the Shrimps with victory at the Globe Arena after four wins in the last five games, another factor that Bentley is all too aware of.
The Shrimps’ boss says his side will be up for the battle as they start a run of three home games out of four in the next fortnight.
He said: “I have played in a lot of the defeats against Accrington in recent years and I know full well what to expect. I have been left frustrated by our performances against them as a player and I don’t want to feel the same way as a manager.”
