A SPORT coaching student at the University of Cumbria is a contender for the Lancashire Coach of the Year award.
Third year BA (Hons) coaching and sports development student Robbie George scooped the Lancaster and District Coach of the Year award earlier in October, automatically putting him forward for the Lancashire county title.
Robbie, originally from Cockermouth, Cumbria, was praised for his “commitment and dedication to sport” by Lancaster City Council and he will now compete against other coaches shortlisted from Lancashire’s 14 local authorities to be named Coach of the Year.
The winner will be announced on November 25 at Lancashire Sports Partnership’s awards dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool. The special ceremony is organised to celebrate sporting achievement and showcase best practice in the area.
Other categories which will be celebrated at the 10th annual ceremony include: Community Club of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Adult Volunteer of the Year, School of the Year, Rising Star of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.
