Morecambe striker Jack Redshaw has signed a one-year contract extension at the Globe Arena.

The front man’s deal had been due to expire in the summer but he penned a new deal on Friday, celebrating with a brace in the 4-1 win at York on Saturday.

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “We have been keen to sign Jack again for some time and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us for another year.

“He is a great lad and a great player and will continue to develop with us over the next 12 months.”

Leaving the club in the short term is midfielder Joe McGee, who has joined Blue Square Bet North side Workington on a month’s loan.

The youngster scored the opening goal on his debut in the Reds’ 4-1 win at Colwyn Bay on Saturday.

Shrimps winger Joe Mwasile also spent a spell on loan at Darren Edmondson’s side earlier this season.

Bentley said: “Joe has done well this year and the move will really help his development. He needs games at this stage of his career and the move to Workington will really help him.

“They are a good club who look after their players and I am sure Joe will do really well for them.”
