Morecambe are aiming to end Exeter’s unbeaten start when the Grecians visit the Globe Arena on Saturday.
Paul Tisdale’s side have seven points from their first three games with the Shrimps still looking for their first League 2 win of the season.
Expectations are lowered somewhat at St James Park due a reduced player budget this time around that has seen the likes of prolific striker Jamie Cureton leave the club.
Reliance on younger players means midtable is a realistic target this season.
New signing Sam Parkin will be challenged with filling some of the void left by Cureton, along with John O’Flynn, the 31-year-old Irishman getting both goals in the 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
The most famous meeting between the two sides was the Conference Play-off Final in May 2007, when the Shrimps were promoted to the Football League for the first time in their history with victory at Wembley.
Last season, the sides shared 3-0 away wins, the Shrimps’ win at St James’ Park in August being their first win over Exeter in the Football League.
Overall, Morecambe have won just two of their 13 meetings with the Grecians, dating back to a 4-0 defeat in the Conference back in November 2003.
The sides have drawn six times with five Exeter wins.
Possible line-up: Krysiak, Woodman, Baldwin, Coles, Dawson, Oakley, Davies, Grimes, Wheeler, O’Flynn, Parkin.
