New Year’s Day sees Bradford visit the Globe Arena, with former Shrimps favourite Garry Thompson in their ranks

Phil Parkinson. Former Hull and Charlton boss took over in August 2011 with Bradford finishing 18th in his first season in charge. Led his side to semi-finals of the Capital One Cup with penalty shoot out win over Arsenal on December 11. Bantams are set to face Aston Villa in the last four.

One to watch

Garry Thompson. Former Shrimps favourite made national headlines recently as the man who got the goal that helped Bantams knock Arsenal out of the Capital One Cup earlier this month. Wide man who scored Morecambe’s first goal at Wembley in their Conference play-off final win over Exeter in 2007 will be looking to make a mark against his former club.

History

Shrimps have won three of the 11 Football League meetings between the two sides. Bradford won this season’s reverse fixture 3-1 in September, Jack Redshaw scoring for The Shrimps at Valley Parade.

Form

Surprise 4-2 defeat at home to Rochdale on Saturday was Bantams’ first League 2 defeat in six games. Run has seen them rise in to the play-off places.
