Morecambe face a near 700-mile round trip when they travel to Dover Athletic in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday, a 3pm kick-off.
The most successful manager in Dover’s history returned to the club in January 2013 for a second spell. First spell in charge between 1985 and 1995 saw the 60-year-old lead The Whites from the Southern League to the Conference Premier. Masterminded their return to the top-tier of non-league football once again via the play-offs last season.
Striker who failed to break into Fulham first team set up after impressing in non-league with Sutton United had spells with the likes Gillingham and Ebbsfleet before arriving at Dover in the summer after scoring 31 goals for AFC Hornchurch last season. The 23-year-old has four goals to his name this season.
Currently 19th in the Conference after 2-2 draw at Southport on Saturday. Prior to that needed two games to see off Eastbourne Borough of the Conference South in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, eventually prevailing 1-0 at The Crabble.
Sides met 10 times in the Conference with past encounters evening themselves out with four Shrimps wins, three draws and three Dover triumphs. Last meeting was in April 2002 when the sides drew 1-1 at The Crabble.
