Morecambe have turned down a six-figure bid for striker Jack Redshaw.
The Visitor understands League One side Rotherham are the club who tabled the substantial offer for the 22-year-old last week.
But the Shrimps have rebuffed the approach for last season’s top scorer who has now been ruled out for up to seven months with a hip injury.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “The bid was a large one for Jack but I am delighted that the board backed me and turned it down.
“It shows that despite the financial climate they were prepared to keep a player who was an important part of our plans an integral to what we are trying to build here.”
