MORECAMBE will travel to near neighbours Blackpool in the first round of the newly-named Capital One Cup.
Jim Bentley’s side will face a tough test at Bloomfield Road against a side who narrowly missed out on reaching the Premier League last season, losing 2-1 to West Ham in the Championship play-off final last month.
Bentley said: “It would obviously have been nice to have ben drawn at home but it is a game that will certainly excite the players and the fans and I am looking forward to it already.
“It will obviously be a really tough game for us but we have done well against sides from leagues above us in the last couple of years and we will be looking to do the same again in this one.”
The tie against Ian Holloway’s side is due to be played in the week prior to the opening weekend of Football League fixtures, with the game expected to take place on Tuesday, August 14.
