Morecambe FC are set to unveil four new directors.
Chairman Peter McGuigan has revealed that the new appointments to the board will be confirmed this week as part of plan to bring new investment to the Globe Arena.
Speaking in his programme notes for last Saturday’s game against Mansfield, the Morecambe chief also said the club are working on a partnership with a Shanghai group who recently visited the resort as well as setting up a Presidents’ Club ahead of next season.
Mr McGuigan said: “We will be announcing next week the appointment of four new directors to the board, all of whom have a strong interest in both the club and the town.
“These appointments will undoubtedly strengthen the board as we look towards a new era for the club.
“There has been a lot of off field activity taking place at the club during the last few months...aimed at securing the financial stability of the club and also allowing us to strengthen both our playing budget and youth development budget which is so important for the future of your club.”
On the Chinese delegation, the chairman said: “We had 12 delegates from Shanghai who visited the club for a few days recently to review our coaching methods, our youth development scheme and our community work.
“The delegation were extremely impressed with our set up, facilities and skill set of our staff. So much so that we have agreed in principle to form a joint venture whereby we will exchange ideas and plans on the points mentioned above.
“Young players from their team and academy will spend time at Morecambe to enhance their skills as will their coaching staff.
“We are also exploring investment opportunities and we hope to conclude this during the next few weeks.”
The Presidents’ Club will allow people to pay an annual subscription fee in exchange for “significant benefits within the club” with full details set to be released in the coming weeks.
