MORECAMBE have signed Carlisle United striker Craig Curran on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has only recently returned to full fitness having been out of action with a knee injury since the end of November.
Curran joined the Cumbrians from Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2010 and has scored eight goals in his 69 appearances for the club.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “I know him, we’ve done a course together.
“He’s a good lad who’s played all his football at League One level.
“I’ve been looking to bring him in for a while. If things don’t work out at Carlisle he’s out of contract so he’s one we’ll be keeping an eye on for next season.
“I’ve brought him in to play and he’s the sort of player I want at the club.”
Bentley also revealed he had missed out on signing three left backs, as he looks to fill the void left by injuries to Laurence Wilson and Manchester United loanee Sean McGinty.
He said: “One has gone to a club in Scotland, one his manager has decided he doesn’t want him to leave. The previous manager said he could go but now the caretaker has said no. The other has gone to a League One club.
“We’re working hard as we have been since the injuries to Laurence and Sean McGinty.
“I’ve been left frustrated but if we don’t get one, we don’t get one.”
Bentley said no-one was expected to leave the Globe Arena today.
