Morecambe have made former Lancaster City skipper Alex Kenyon their latest summer signing.
The 20-year-old has joined from Stockport County and signed a one-year deal with the Shrimps to become the second new arrival at the Globe Arena this week.
The midfielder was player of the year of Edgeley Park last year as the Greater Manchester side were relegated from the Conference.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “I have spoken to a lot of people about Alex and every single one of them has spoken highly of him.
“He was excellent for Stockport last season, played 40 games for them, and is another player who can play in a range of positions and will be a fantastic addition to our squad.
“He is a good age and is another who will keep on improving and I’m delighted to be able to welcome him to the Globe Arena.”
The Shrimps have also announced that Scottish Premier League runners-up Motherwell will visit the Globe Arena for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 20 in a 3pm kick-off.
The Fir Park side, managed by former Bradford, Everton and Sheffield United midfielder Stuart McCall, have had one of their most celebrated seasons in recent memory.
Bentley said: “This is a fantastic fixture for us against really tough opponents.
“Motherwell had a great season last year and will hopefully be a big draw for our fans who will come out in numbers to watch a side who are playing in Europe this year.”
