Morecambe’s Jack Redshaw was named best League 2 player at the North West Football Awards on Monday night.
The diminutive front man, who returned from injury in the victory at Burton on Saturday, has been recognised for a breakthrough 2012-2013 season that saw him top the Shrimps’ goal scoring charts.
He beat off competition from former Shrimp Scott Davies of Fleetwood Town, ex-Rochdale man Jason Kennedy and Lee Molyneux, formerly of Accrington Stanley, to win the public vote and pick up the award at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester.
The former Manchester City youngster missed out in the Rising Star category however, won by Liverpool’s Jerome Sinclair.
Morecambe FC Community Sports were also Highly Commended in the Community Club of the Year section.
