Morecambe Ladies are still waiting for their first game of 2014 after seeing their game at Wigan Athletic called off on Saturday.

The game at Darswood FC was postponed late on Sunday as the ladies were left frustrated for the second weekend in a row.

The Shrimpettes’ A team however did see some action with a 4-2 friendly victory over a Galgate XI at Lancaster and Morecambe College.

First team regular Becky Whittingham got a run out after missing the last seven weeks through injury with Vicky Perry, Georgia Lupton, Nic Conway and Jo Norris getting the goals.

Morecambe Ladies’ fixture this Sunday is unclear at the moment.

They were scheduled to face Preston Ladies in a Lancashire FA Challenge Cup semi-final but after North End’s FA Cup match last weekend was postponed they could see that rearranged for this Sunday.

That would leave Nick Barrett’s side likely to face Northwich Vixens in a return to North West Women’s Premier League action.

The only game in the division on Sunday saw City of Manchester take a point at Wyre Villa FC against Blackpool Ladies with a 3-3 draw to move above Morecambe in the table.

Morecambe are a point behind the Manchester side in third but have four games in hand on them and two on top of the table Crewe Alexandra.
