Laurence Wilson made a scoring Globe Arena return on Wednesday night in Morecambe Reserves’ win over Bury.

The left-sided player, who left the Shrimps in the summer for Rotherham, is back training with the club after leaving the Millers by mutual consent.

A strong Shrimps second team, for whom Wilson played 70 minutes, won 4-2 with Richard Brodie also scoring a brace.

The on-loan Crawley man gave Stewart Drummond’s side the lead from the penalty spot after just three minutes, Dan Parkinson having been brought down in the box.

Parkinson himself doubled the lead on the quarter hour, beating Bury keeper Christian Dibble from eight yards after an excellent Wilson through ball.

Wilson added the third, heading a James Short cross home from close range.

Brodie got his second shortly before the hour mark, making no mistake from close range after the ball had broken to him in the box.

Bury then came back, Sam Dickinson and Lateef Elford Alliyu reducing the arrears for the visitors, but Drummond’s side held on for the win.

Morecambe: Arestidou, McGowan, Threlfall, Bell, Doyle, Haining, Wilson (Houghton 70), McGee, Brodie (Woods 83), Parkinson, Short. Subs not used: Knipe, Naylor, Johnson.
