Ryan Williams is looking to repay Morecambe’s faith in him after penning a new one-year deal.

The midfielder, who has made a dream start to his Shrimps career after finally completing his move to the club at the beginning of January, has signed a contract until the end of the 2013/14 season.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted.

“It’s given me another season to look forward to at Morecambe.

“From a personal point of view, I just want to repay the gaffer and Ken (McKenna) for the faith they’ve shown to give me an opportunity to play in the Football League.”

Williams believes his side dropped two points in their latest outing against Bristol Rovers at the Globe Arena, the home side being pegged back after a fast start to draw 1-1.

He said: “I thought in the first half we played some really good football.

“But it would have been a different game if we’d put our chances away earlier on and then once they scored we were chasing the game a little bit.

“It’s points on the board but we’re looking at that as two points lost.”

Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley was pleased to have tied down one of his most exciting talents for another year.

He said: “Ryan has already shown that he is a player with huge potential and I am delighted that has agreed to join us.

“He is still only young but I am sure he will continue to improve and will be an important member of our squad.

“It took a long time to get him here but he has already shown what he is capable of and we are all looking forward to working with him.”
