Morecambe’s Boxing Day clash with Fleetwood is one of their biggest games of the season, according to boss Jim Bentley.

Both sides have had an extra couple of days to prepare for the game after their respective games on Saturday were postponed.

And Bentley is relishing the chance to face The Shrimps’ local rivals, who won the first Football League meeting between the two teams 4-0 at the Globe Arena in September thanks to a Jon Parkin hat-trick.

“It’s definitely one of our biggest games of the season,” he said.

“Every Boxing Day fixture is a big game and this one is no different.

“Especially because it’s against your local rivals and after the result earlier in the season.

“It’s a big game for us and it’s a big game for them and I’m sure fans from both sides will turn out in force.”
