Preview: Coventry v Morecambe
Coventry City's Carl Baker in action against Arlesey Town in the FA Cup first round.
This Saturday is possibly the Shrimps’ biggest game of the season so far as they travel to Coventry in the FA Cup second round
Manager
Mark Robins. Former Rotherham and Barnsley boss took over at the Ricoh Arena in September, signing a three-year contract. He replaced Andy Thorn, who was sacked at the end of August after starting the club’s first season in English football’s third tier for nearly 48 years with three draws.
One to watch
Carl Baker. Former Shrimps star and current Coventry captain will be one of the key men for The Sky Blues. Midfielder has spoken of his delight at the draw and the chance to go up against his former side. Still Morecambe’s record signing, having been signed by Sammy McIlroy in the summer of 2007 from Southport ahead of the club’s first season in the Football League.
History
Only ever meeting between the two sides was the first ever game at the Globe Arena, a Carling Cup tie back in August 2010. Andy Fleming scored both goals for the Shrimps in a 2-0 win to knock out the then Championship side on what was an historic night for the club.
Form
Inconsistent Sky Blues have been better on their travels than at the Ricoh Arena in recent weeks. Drew 1-1 at home to Portsmouth on Saturday after two convincing away wins 3-1 at Colchester and 5-0 at Hartlepool. Currently 15th in League One. Beat non-league Arlesey 3-0 in the FA Cup first round.
Possible line-up
Dunn, Christie, Wood, Edjenguele, Adams, Baker, Jennings, Moussa, McSheffrey, Fleck, McDonald.
